Observations · Al-Thumairi Market, Riyadh
The Upholsterer

He furnishes the corners of our homes, cutting traditional fabrics like Sadu and Shalki and stuffing them into the cushions and floor seating we live with every day. His shop is crowded with color: fabric, foam and cushions stacked to the highest shelves. He sits in silent concentration behind his sewing machine, seeing nothing of the clutter but the path of the needle under his hand.
